These cards represent hours of labors-of-love. Each card is handmade: screen printed, stamped, die-cut, and labeled. Once the label is applied, I have to flip them over and trim the cards back with an X-Acto knife. I have since decided to print generic business cards due to the expense and massive amount of time it takes to make them. Who knows, though- maybe someday I'll resurrect these cards from my design archives.
About the logo on the card: The logo on the card is the original logo that I designed for myself several years ago. I still use it occasionally, but for the most part I'm using a variation of my signature for my current branding and identity.
The stickman figure was derived from a couple different ideas. First, I am tall and skinny. Second, it's made up from the initials of my name, "Derrick Alan Mitchell," with the head being the "D," the body is the "M," and the legs are the "A." The bow-tie is symbolic of my ability to design sophisticated designs for business, while the edges of the character are rough and organic to symbolize the edgy and grungy designs I like to do as well.
I've been fortunate to have my cards featured on:
