I don't know how to say this without getting in trouble with my other clients, but Hops Direct is one of my favorite clients to work with- and not for reasons you might think (I don't even like the taste of beer.)
In working with them I have had the opportunity to develop a unique company brand that we have applied universally – from a website to interactive galleries to Flash games, to self-produced YouTube videos. This diversity has allowed me to stretch my creative muscles and step a little outside the standard role of a typical "Graphic Designer." Hops Direct has been one of my clients for over 5 years now, and featured here are some the top projects we have worked on together.
Logo: I love the organic feel of their logo, and I especially love how it works so well with how hop vines really look in the fields.
Website: Their previous website was over seven years old and was in need of a comprehensive update. We have just finished the design and are currently working on building the backend CMS & Shopping Cart for their eCommerce store that will be going live in September.
Flash Game: Heavily based on the original Pacman Game, Hop Aphid is a creative twist on the original with the object being to eat as many pesky Hop Aphids before getting picked off. Starting out as a random "what if we put a game on our site?" question by my client, Hop Aphid has quickly become a favorite aspect of their website by both customers and employees alike. I'd like to thank Interaction Designer Paul Neave for sharing his original source code for Pacman which made the job of redesigning and customizing the game possible.
Brochure: Their tradeshow brochures are standard 8.5 x 11, and printed locally in Montana at Great Northern Printing, Inc. They were the first project to be developed using the new branding elements, and have set the tone for the rest of their business collateral.
Business Card: The Hops Direct business card was developed in conjunction with the brochure; it features the new logo I developed for them, as well as the new color scheme and branding elements. The first round of the logo was brown and orange and is still produced in those colors on the brochures, but we have recently revised the main logo to be brown and green.
Unlike a traditional business card, which is 3.5 inches by 2 inches, these cards are trimmed down a quarter of an inch to be 1.75 inches by 3.5 inches. This helps the cards stand out and gives them one more degree of separation from the norm.
